About Kim

About

We are facing many issues here in Cape and in Maine, and the 2024 election year is a potentially historic one to bring meaningful change and progress. My background and experience will allow me to go back to work in Augusta, tackling challenges head-on and working towards positive outcomes. Issues like education, housing for all Mainers, protecting our kids with increased gun safety legislation, climate change and women's reproductive rights are all priority areas for action. By addressing these issues, we will contribute to the betterment of Cape Elizabeth and the state of Maine as a whole.

What Others Are Saying

Jonathan Chapman, Esq., U.S. Attorney’s Office

Kim's legislative experience and knowledge of Maine's education and business community, politics, and history make her the best candidate to help move our community and Maine forward.

Meredith Young, Operations Manager, Tammaro Landscaping

Kim is hard-working, accessible, and well-respected by her colleagues. She understands the concerns of ordinary, working people because she’s one of them.

Sam Robinson

Hoping you will support Kim Monaghan for State Representative in the June 11 Primary election. Kim has always projected a positive personality with people. She thinks progressively, always focused on change and the future. It's not about her, it's about making a better life for everyone in the Cape community and Maine. She converses these visions with ease, but also knows the red flags when the discussion becomes unproductive. In Maine and throughout this country, the 2024 election year will be a test on democracy. We will need experienced leaders who can work together to bring meaningful change and build a path forward. With Kim's prior work in Augusta on Capitol Hill and her four terms in the Legislature, I have no doubt she will work with lawmakers and Governor Mills in a positive and productive manner, focused on change, working effectively with people, and allowing Cape Elizabeth - and Maine to be looking towards the future.

Michael Brennan, House Chair - Joint Standing Committee on Education and Cultural Affairs

I have known Kim for over twenty years and I believe she would be an outstanding addition to the Maine Legislature. In her previous service, she was known for her ability to work collaboratively with legislators from across the state to successfully resolve a number of difficult issues. I look forward to working with her on education and environmental bills as well as protecting women’s rights. Please send Kim back to Augusta.

On the Issues

Cape Elizabeth’s issues are Maine issues. I’m running for State Representative to strengthen Maine’s priorities in Augusta.

Reproductive Rights

Fight extreme-right attacks on reproductive rights

and protect healthcare access for all Mainers

Education

Our most important investment. Empower teachers with a livable wage. Provide innovative learning programs and excellent facilities to prepare Maine students for 21st-century jobs.

Gun Violence

Take on the gun lobby to secure common sense gun

reforms, keeping Mainers safe from gun violence

Economic Development

Create jobs by attracting smart investment and supporting local businesses.

Environment and Climate Change

Make climate change a priority in all aspects to

support low-carbon growth. With the recent raging storms and damage, we must start doing a lot more to reverse the effects of climate change here in Cape Elizabeth and throughout Maine.

Equal Rights

Whether it's affordable housing, healthcare, homelessness, tax fairness, women's rights, and the right to protect kids with increased gun safety, all Mainers should be treated fairly.

Why you should VOTE for Kim

As the former four-term State Representative, during an extremely divisive government, Kim has the key attributes for getting things done.

With over 30 years of professional and public service experience, Kim has the real and relevant experience to take on this task and represent Cape Elizabeth and Maine. Public Service has been a major purpose in my life. In my return to Augusta, I will use my experience to tackle challenges head-on and work towards positive outcomes on issues like education, housing for all Mainers, child-focused gun safety legislation, climate change, and women’s reproductive rights.

Kim's past work on two Legislative Committees (Legal Affairs, Workforce & Economic Future) is sure to play a role in Maine's recovery. With her experience working on Capitol Hill, in global trade exhibitions and Maine's Tourism industry, including Adjunct Professor in Tourism & Hospitality at USM, she will make a strong contribution to these committees in hopes of returning as a member.

Kim possesses a strong knowledge of Maine's business community, its politics and history. She has a reputation for her calm and approachable manner.
